BRIGHT ST CLOSURE Work on the water main & sewer lines on Bright St. between Varick & Monmouth is expected to start this Wednesday, June 26th. Here is what we know so far: A few houses on Bright St. tested positive for lead and need the lines into the house or from the water main into the house replaced. That work, as well as scheduled work to replace the main water supply and 2 sewer lines, will begin on June 26th and go through to September, with the goal to have work completed prior to school starting. The school has worked out a solution for bus drop off and pick up for the summer session with the crew. It is a completely different crew contracted by MUA than the crew that worked on York St. The crew knows about the issues York St. experienced and are expected to be more respectful and responsible. They will start with the water main that is in the center so traffic should be allowed both ways. Eventually they will replace the sewers, one located on each side of Bright St. going from Varick to Monmouth. The crew will only work M-F (no weekends), and will work 8AM until 4:30PM. There will be no parking during the day, but parking will be available after 4:30PM. As we learn more, we will do our best to keep you informed!
