88 and 90 Bright Street are on the agenda for the Historic Preservation Commission on Monday, June 17th.
- 88 Bright Street: Certificate of Appropriateness for a proposed rear and fourth story addition to an existing 3-story building, interior renovations, and front façade restoration at an altered, contributing Italianate townhouse built circa 1890.
- 90 Bright Street: Certificate of Appropriateness for the construction of a four-story, four-unit residential building and associated site work.

Additional Information to be shared about: Bates Street RDP amendments, Embankment RDP amendments, 201 Newark Avenue, & 87 Bright Street.

Dear Neighbors,

The Stoop Party on June 1st was a great success! To me it was a sweet illustration of what makes our neighborhood so wonderful. Old neighbors met new neighbors, longstanding friendships were strengthened and new friendships were made. And there were lots of children! They staged races on the street and had fun just being kids. No devices necessary! Although scheduled from 4-7 many people stayed until 11:00. Thanks to everyone who helped to make this a day filled with magic.

There are many events to look forward to: another book swap in August, an end of summer stoop party, music and movies in the park, and Music on the Porch at the Barrow Mansion.

Our next meeting is on the 18th and celebrates PRIDE. Please join us!

Grove Street weekend construction Phase 2 (April through June)

World Trade Center-bound and Hoboken/33 St.-bound trains will bypass Grove St. For the latest information on closures & weekends without the bypass, click here.

Neighbors Needed to Table for VVNA at the Farmers Market!

Do you enjoy being a part of the Van Vorst Neighborhood Association? Do you think that the events we host or the topics we spread awareness about are worth sharing? Then you would be a great fit to help us spread the word about the VVNA and upcoming activities this summer at our farmer’s market table!
