Issues Requiring Urgent Support

One of the most important roles we play as the VVNA is alerting you, our neighbors, to issues that directly impact you and your neighborhood so you can make your voice heard. This month, we have had an influx of important issues coming through to us with short deadlines. As a result, this is the fourth newsletter we are sending out. We are doing our best not to spam up your inbox, but we felt these issues were important enough to warrant another issue of our newsletter. Regent St. Park Design - Give Feedback Here!

Regent St Park, the incomplete triangle-shaped park/dog run at 39 Regent St, adjacent to the Jersey Ave Light Rail Station has a new plan!

A plan for a park on this site was originally approved back in 2014, but the project was never fully completed according to the approved design. Councilman Solomon’s office has been working diligently with HEDC for years to address the issues around this site. After overcoming many hurdles, a new site plan was recently submitted to the City Planning Office by the developer. The plan will need to be reviewed by the planning board, and we are actively working to ensure the developer submits a performance bond, guaranteeing timely completion of the park.

Before proceeding with the next steps, Councilman Solomon wants to ensure the community has a chance to provide input on the proposal. We are asking the association for your feedback on the plan. We'll also be sharing the plans with members of the Liberty Harbor community.

Draft Historic Preservation Master Plan Element Available for review and comment!

The draft of the 2023 Historic Element of the Jersey City Master Plan is now available for public review and comments.  All comments should be sent to jchpc@jcnj.org, and the comment period will end on January 31st.
